The city of Mesa, Arizona, meanwhile, once again refrained from celebrating despite Arizona's popular vote to the contrary in 1992. "Mesa is a big deal," said Gene Blue, chairman of the Arizona Martin Luther King Day Committee, told the Associated Press. "It shows this victory is far from won."
