Heavy trading in blue chip stocks drove the New York Stock Exchange to another record high. The Dow jumped 32.51 points to close at 5459.6 with trading at a muscular 455.32 million shares. The NYSE composite index was rose 1.64 to 346.32. The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index climbed 3.58 to 649.91, and the AMEX value index gained 2.63 to close at 562.59. The Nasdaq composite index dropped 5.07 to finish at 1,084.01. Gold closed at $413.15 in London, up $0.80.
