Baseball: Indian Summer
For the second time in their last four games, the Cleveland Indians overcame a bullpen that is among the best in baseball. Last week it was Sandy Alomar, whose 8th inning home run off Mariano Rivera brought the Indians back from near certain elimination against the Yankees. Last night it was Marquis Grissom, a major disappointment during the regular season but a hero on Lake Erie right now. His 3-run, 8th inning shot gave the Indians a 5-4 win and evened the American League Championship Series against Baltimore at one game apiece. Tonight, the Braves and Marlins continue their series, also even. But the Fish find themselves without starter Alex Fernandez, out for the rest of this season and possibly all of the next with a torn rotator cuff.
