In The Beginning
Born in Fulham, England Radcliffe's first big break came in 1999, when he landed the role of the young David Copperfield in a BBC adaptation of the famed Charles Dickens book. Chris Columbus, the director of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone saw a video of Radcliffe's performance and thought him ideal for the film's lead role. Thus Radcliffe joined Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, above, at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
