Heavy on beans and lentils, small yellow packages of U.S. food aid are descending on Afghanistan. Some goes to hungry refugees — and some goes to market

THE RATIONS ARE COMING:
A photograph of the Humanitarian Daily Rations (HDR) which were transported from bases in the US for an aid drop over Afghanistan. The packages contain two main vegetarian meals based heavily onlentils, beans and rice, and also complementary items like bread, afruit bar, a fortified biscuit, peanut butter and spices.
