Diana Walker first
broke onto the White House scene covering First Lady Roslynn
Carter for TIME, and continued in that capacity when the
Reagans moved in in 1981. In 1984 Diana joined Dirck Halstead
as TIME's official White House photographer, and has been
working in that role ever since. Now after 20 years and four
presidents, Diana has decided to move on. Clinton's last
week as president marks Diana's last week as TIME's White
House photographer. Diana will continue to work as a TIME
photographer, and will begin to work on personal projects
such as a follow-up to "Found Dogs," her book about strays
and the people who took them in.
