Though it's not quite new anymore,
Superman The Escape, which opened four years ago at Six Flags Magic
Mountain in California is the fastest (100 mph), tallest (415 feet)
and longest drop (328¹ 1") coaster in North America. The Six Flags
conglomerate is opening 18 new rides this year, highlighted by Batwing
at Six Flags America (outside D.C.). Passengers are seated backward
in the train as they move up the first hill. At the top they are reclined
to face the sky, then they "fly" through the five flips, hurdling
towards the ground and swooping back towards the sky. The ride opened
June 16.
