Life is hard for the nomadic people of the Sahara Desert who live and work along the 450-mile salt road from Timbuktu


CAMEL'S MILK, ANYONE?
Salt trader Would Moulaye, center, and a friend motion for others to join them in his home for tea and camel's milk in the tiny Saharan oasis settlement of Arouane. In Arouane, nearly everyone is connected to the salt trade; they are camel herders, miners, caravan drivers or weavers of grass cords used to rope salt blocks to camels.
