Family affair: When Florida was called for Gore by the networks shortly before 8 p.m., despondency fell over the Bush clan. Nearing 10 o'clock, the networks sheepishly pulled Florida back and Austin came alive. The candidate was, in the words of one associate, "like a prizefighter pulling himself off the mat." Not long thereafter, one western state after another fell for Bush; here he punches the air while his revived brother continues to work the phones back home.
