Agricultural and urban development is rapidly gobbling up the preferred habitat of the Chinese golden monkey. They are killed for their beautiful orange fur that locals believe wards off rheumatism, their bones, which are used in traditional Chinese medicine, and their brain, considered a delicacy in local cuisine.
