Though the Iraqi police force has grown to have a sizeable and increasingly confident presence in the capital, their unity, organization, and ability as a security force are still being tested. In most neighborhoods, roadside checkpoints are frequent, but many police still choose to mask their faces from the criminals and militia fighters they hunt.
