Part of Neil Armstrong's mission mandate was to take as many photos as he could during his brief (2 hours 36 minutes) stay on the moon. This frame was the very first photo he shot after setting foot on the lunar surface. It shows the lunar module strut and the jettison bag, which was used to hold empty food containers and other unwanted items.
