On April 9, 2009, Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart, 22, and three of his friends were driving near Angel Stadium when their car was struck by a driver who had run a red light. Adenhart and two of the other passengers were killed in the crash, which occurred the night after Adenhart had taken the mound for the first time in the 2009 season, pitching six scoreless innings and getting himself out of several tight situations.
