David Levine's TIME covers
David Levine for TIME
Lyndon Johnson, 1968
Levine drew biting pen and ink caricatures of politicians, intellectuals and others for more than 50 years. Though he was best known for his work for the New York Review of Books, Levine did numerous covers for TIME, including this Man of the Year cover that portrays President Lyndon Baines Johnson as a melancholic King Lear.
