Born in Dodge City, Kansas, Dennis Hopper appeared in more than 100 films, in a career that spanned 50 years and included some of the most memorable characters in American cinema history. A student at the famed Actors Studio in New York, Hopper got his first role in 1955, around the time the photo above was taken, appearing in an episode of the television series Medic.
