China pulled out all the stops for the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. With nearly 14,000 participants practicing as far as a year in advance, Beijing's Olympic theatrics were an exercise in precision and coordination. It all started with thousands of boxlike bronze fou drums.
