Thousands of Birds Die on Louisiana's Raccoon Island

Raccoon Island, located on the western tip of Terrebonne Parish in Louisiana, is the largest pelican rookery in the state. The island sanctuary was rebuilt after Hurricane Katrina. Before the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, it was home to more than 60,000 birds.
