Because tattoos are forbidden in Islamic culture and part of the Marines' mission is to win over the hearts and minds of the local populace the Marine Corps tries to limit what the men can do with their skin art. Tattoos on the head and neck are prohibited, and officers are limited to a maximum of four easily visible pieces.
