A professional photographer for 12 years, Lima started out at a local Brazilian sports newspaper before joining AFP, where he has been working for the past 10 years. Based in Sao Paulo, he has also worked on assignments throughout Latin America, Iraq and the Middle East. This was his first trip to Afghanistan.
