The Anger Spreads
The death of Bouazizi in early January galvanized the youth of Tunisia, where education levels are high, but employment opportunities are limited. He "was the drop of water that made the whole cup overflow," says Tunisia's wildly popular rapper El Général, whose YouTube videos about the event rapidly went viral. Within days of Bouazizi's death, young people had taken to the streets in nearby towns, like Regueb, where protesters clashed with security forces on January 10, above.
