A male Asian Arowana (Scleropages Formusus) releases baby fish after incubating the eggs in its mouth for about 2 months at a fish farm in the Southern Johor state of Malaysia. The Asian Arowana, indigenous to Southeast Asia, has been classified as an endangered species amid over-exploitation because of high demand and value. The fish can sell for an average price of $100 to $2,000 though $50,000 and higher have been quoted for some special varieties. (Wednesday, November 7, 2001)
