Al Brown of Mansfield, Ohio, demonstrates a "bee beard" for a crowd of people gathered at Malabar Farms for Mansfield's Bee Festival. Brown said he had only achieved the bee beard four times, but despite that and the unseasonable weather he was stung only three times during this attempt. The bees were attracted to Brown's face because he had a queen bee in a box taped to his neck, and because his face was doused with sugar water. Wearing all those bees "is a very unique sensation," Brown said. (Sunday, April 28, 2002)
