Orthodox Christmas, a fallen giant, a blizzard in Great Britian, and the rest of the week's best images

A stranded freighter lies beached on La Capelle reef on the island of Guernsey in the English Channel. The unnamed freighter, which is filled with 200 tons of water ballast, was en route to Holland from Romania when it ran aground after its tow lines snapped. Due to falling tides the ship could be stranded for six weeks. (Sunday, January 5, 2003)
