What do you think about the allegations of rape and sexual misconduct at the University of Colorado?
The University of Colorado football program is facing allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assaults and rape at off-campus recruiting parties. Former CU placekicker Katie Hnida, in an interview with Sports Illustrated, came forward to say she was repeatedly harassed and groped by teammates and was raped by a fellow player during her tenure with the team. Coach Gary Barnett has faced a great deal of criticism for his handling of the accusations and was suspended by the school pending further investigation. Tell us what you think of the Colorado football scandal and its impact on college athletics.

I think that what the coach said about her being a terrible player had nothing to do with her rape alligations. His comments made it appear as though he was protecting the players. He should have remained neutral in his comments to the press.

For me, this whole Colorado U. scandal has made me sick. Ive been a Colorado fan since I was young and these allegations have given me second thoughts. I'd like to believe they are not true but so many things are being uncovered its hard to ignore.

Rape is unacceptable and should be punished. But it is a useless and pointless provocation when women seek to compete with men in contact sports.

I'm glad people care about this issue. I'm a 20 year old female college student and it makes me sick ... The bottom line is there is a huge problem with the younger genration of men. Younger men seem to have no concept of what "rape" is. It's almost like they don't even care as long as they get their turn before the girl regains her senses. Until men learn how to control themselves, women need to learn how to control a gun. If you cannot stop yourself from taking avantage of women, maybe a bullet to the head will. I am the new genration of women. We are more than ready to take action in our own hands for our safety. That's the world I live in, people need to get real.

Isn't this just another example of athletes behaving badly because they have always been allowed to do so? We glorify these people as celebrities and then wonder why they have no morals or sense of responsibility. When an athlete is kicked off the team at the first sign of dangerous or illegal behavior, we might make some strides towards decency.

I think that if the girls were raped or mistreated, then action should be taken aginst those individuals. Also I think that the coatch should be fired for his comments. Anyone in the public eye like that who makes those kind of comments should not be a coach. A coach is the one that you go to if you need help or are in trouble.

The problem [would] not have happened if no women were on the team. This is nothing new: women and men can't be in the same team in any sport. It's happened in the prison, military, and workplace. At this point rape is rape. There is no need to dig more dirt. She should have reported it when it started — why now?

I think it's very sad. But they are just one university and I'm sure that similar things happen at many of the large universities. This is just a symptom of a much larger problem.

If proven, the accusations are criminal and should be treated as such. To paint the University of Colorado with such a broad brush does no one any good. The political correctness of the situation is not the issue. This denigrates women who actually get raped and leads to the reasons why they do not want to come forward. Quick, decisive action is necessary. Punishment should fit the crime. If the ability of the female kicker as described by the head coach is true, why was she on the team? Was that a political correctness judgement?

I think rape is rape. If a varsity football player did it, it's still rape. If a professional sports personality does it, it's rape. And if a college covers it up, it's rape. These athletes can go on to be professionals some day. Are these the type of professionals we want our children looking up to?

Why wasn't this creep fired immediately after making such an outrageous statement?
