It probably hasn't got going in quite the same way in the USA (yet), but here in the UK a lot of us have found we can't live without www.genesreunited.co.uk. There are a number of other genealogy-related sites which are also very popular, but I suspect this is the fastest-growing in popularity right now.

Portsmouth, England

My choice for the coolest website would be SparkPeople.com, it's awesome !! The reason I really love that site is because it has changed my whole lifestyle. It's free, and easy to access. No gimmics or false presentation. I've reached my weight goals and fitness. Now I'm maintaining a great, healthy lifestyle. The message boards have introduced me to many friends throughout the world, who now are in contact everyday. The resource center and the coaches are invaluable sources for help and support. I love the site and strongly re ommend it as a website I can't live without.
Runningwater
Englewood, FL

NewScientist.com is the best technology and science news site I have found. When I see tech articles in CNN, I know where they were reported first.
Ken McCorkle
Columbia Falls, MT

Tinyurl.com. Not an end on itself, but a means to an end. A wonderfully simple yet very useful tool to allow the simple sharing of web pages without the complex URLs that sometime accompany them. Have been using it for several years; deserves a mention.
Ian Hunneybell
London, UK

For cool factor (and music/movie buffs) try http://www.liveplasma.com/. Even if you aren't a music or movie buff, it's fun to look at the different conections in those worlds.
Steve

If you like Jumpcut, make sure to check out www.eyespot.com. Simple online video editing with a cool option to send your videos to mobile phones.
David Todd

This site is a safety net for life - www.WhatHappensNow.com. It guides you through loads of life events - hospital stays and going to college, car accidents and house fires, hurricanes to blizzards. It's all free. It's pretty cool.

Our favorite DVD trading site is www.peerflix.com with trades for a dollar plus postage. You list what you want to get rid of and create a wish list. As people request a movie you have, the site instructs you where to mail it and you get Peerbux currency (adjusted so that new and in-demand movies are worth more) to pay for one you want.
Sue
Bellevue, WA

I would have expected SoYouWanna.com to be on your list. It's a great source for all kinds of info about all kinds of things, e.g. SYW buy a ferret, SYW ace a job interview, SYW learn to play poker and on and on. They do a great job of presenting the info with humor.
Susan Gevaert
Snohomish, WA

One great overlooked site is Phanfare. It's like Flickr, but with no ads and more more personalization. It uses a desktop client to upload your pictures quickly and easily in the background. For creating photo albums your friends and family can see online, it is by far the best.
Corey
San Francisco, CA

A great Website that should not have been overlooked is www.thinkfree.com, a complete, free Online office suite, with storage, collaboration, and more!!
Suzette Petito
Los Altos, California

The coolest website is http://www.tutorvista.com since it provides affordable tutoring — education is more important than search or social networking
Charles Hodgson
Ottawa, Canada

Santosha.com is probably the best resource out there on Yoga postures, as well as important texts on meditation and yoga philosophy. I use it regularly as a reference for how to do a particular posture or to access some texts. They have a nice store too.
Steven Austin
Babylon, NY

I enjoyed the list of 50 coolest sites — except, I'm so tired of hearing about MySpace. Yes, it's huge. Yes, it's the trendsetter. But coolest? I think there are several sites that have improved on the model. My favorite is Gather (http://www.gather.com). Call it the MySpace for older, more educated people if you must, it's certainly a daily "must stop" for me.
Kristin Brandt
Natick, MA

I'm a mom of 4 currently planning our next family vacation. I wouldn't do it without wejustgotback.com. I first read about this site in the NYTimes travel section, and i love it. The reviews of family-friendly hotels are super honest and there are tons of tips about traveling with kids. there is also a section that tells you about travel packages and promotions from the web, all for families. great site!
Kate Buschle
Aurora, IL

I'm so surprised you left out www.etsy.com, a very very cool site for homemade goods. The user interfaces are wholly original and beautiful
Emily
Larchmont, NY

Where is Stumbleupon.com? It is used by millions of people around the world and is probably the single best online entertainment/procrastincation source that I can think of. If your team doesn't know about it, they should (but be warned, it will suck up HOURS of time)
Brad Rutgers
Los Angeles, CA

www.hngry.com. It's a pretty indispensable tool for managing your favorite restaurants online and figuring out where to eat.
Richard
Baton Rouge, LA

Leite's Culinaria. As it's tagline says: "Hot food, dry wit."
Lee
New York, NY

Pink is the New Blog is the greatest!
Sherry
Union City, TN

I never miss a week here — postsecret.com. Keeps me coming back to see if my secret has been posted.
Rena Pakrer
Oklahoma City, OK

You missed one of the run-away hits of 2006 and Web 2.0 so far — Pando (www.pando.com). It's a new private p2p app that lets people email any sized files or folders with their existing email accounts. Nearly 1 million users in less than 6 months, and they're still in beta! Walt Mossberg and many others gave them rave reviews.
Brian
New York, NY

If you've got Pandora on the list, you should really try Last.fm. Same kind of service — personalised internet radio. But it's much simpler — it works on the 'if you liked that, you'll like this' principle. You tell Last.fm what you like, and it plays you what other people like, who like what you like. See? Dead easy, and very effective.
Max
London, UK
