Will Politicians Matter?

The signs are everywhere: Voter apathy, shrinking government -- even political insiders like Al Gore now commonly talk about all the things government can't do. Meanwhile, volunteerism and church attendance are on the rise. Which means pols may find themselves competing for attention with the one force still able to inspire men and women the way politics once did: Religion.
