Two curious things about the pricey follow-up to the comedy Bruce Almighty: 1. this is a film of faith, and 2. it ain't funny. A gloss on the Noah tale--but with bird poop--it has a Congressman (Steve Carell) visited by God (Morgan Freeman) and told to build an ark. The movie does lots of preaching on ethics, but as entertainment, it's an unholy mess. Cinephiles and Evangelicals will agree: the Old Testament had a better sequel.
