THE VIEW

The skies are overcast, the downpours torrential, and it falls to four teenagers from Dundee, Scotland to turn this scene in to a party. The View set about it at a feverish pace, their quick-tempo jangly-guitar rock raises spirits with the receding clouds. By the second song, last summer's debut single "Wasted Little DJs," the sun is out. Rainwear is hurriedly discarded, lager and cider is passed around and the first bikini-topped girl is lifted on shoulders by the time the band treats the 1979 Squeeze hit, "Up The Junction" to a quick-time ska reworking. It's The View's U.K. chart hit "Same Jeans" that really connects with the crowd for the first sing-a-long of the weekend: "I've had the same jeans on for four days now. Everybody's dressing up and I'm dressing down." Will they still be delighting in their dirty clothes by Monday morning?
