While accepting her lead-actress Emmy for her TV role as a mother whose son served in Afghanistan, Sally Field tried to make a broader statement about women and war. But the only thing viewers heard was "Let's face it. If the mothers ruled the world, there would be no god — " Fox, which aired the show, took the cameras off her and censored the rest of her sentence, which ended, " — damn wars in the first place!"
