Q & A: Talking with Hilary Swank
In P.S. I Love You, the two-time Oscar winner stars as a woman who discovers that her late husband has left her a series of letters to help her begin a new life.
Why make a romantic comedy?
I fell in love with it and saw it as a chance for me to do something different. The beauty of the film is that the story is just about life and experience.
In the movie, your character, Holly, talks about having a life plan in place. Do you have one?
I'm a much more spontaneous person than Holly. But my plan was always to go into acting, and I've been doing that now for more than half my life.
You starred in three films this year. Are you exhausted?
[Laughs.] It's certainly exhausting, but it's an exhaustion that I really do enjoy.
Do you have any regrets? Are there any movies you wish you hadn't made?
I don't regret anything in life, because you never know how anything is going to turn out.
Who's your dream co-star?
I have many, but my top three are Meryl Streep, Ewan McGregor and Viggo Mortensen.
Where do you keep your Oscars?
In my family room on a shelf. I didn't have a special shelf made for them. I guess it's a special shelf now.
