Nominated for an Oscar 15 years ago, the actor is more often remembered for his stints in jail and rehab facilities. But 2008 could bring blockbuster success to Downey, who was deemed uninsurable not so long ago. He's landed the starring role in Marvel Comics' Iron Man, about a weapons designer turned human flamethrower.
