Little Miss Sunshine's Abigail Breslin, 11, stars in the new adventure movie Nim's Island.

How did you get your parents to let you be an actress?
I did a commercial, and I liked it. Well, I mean, I was 3, so I don't really remember that much.

How do you decide what roles you'll play?
My mom reads the script first, and then she tells me if I can read it or not. If I can, I'll read, and I'll see if it's somebody I would want to know.

Do you go to school?
I am homeschooled, and when I'm on set, I have a tutor. It's fun. I don't have to wake up super-early.

What do you do when you're not working?
Swim, read, talk on the phone, shop. I have two favorite books. One is Anne of Green Gables; the other is a series called The Clique. I just like that Anne is kind of crazy. She gets herself into crazy situations.

Do you see yourself acting in 20 years?
I either want to be an actress or a veterinarian. Either one. I'm not sure yet. I like animals. I think it would be fun to help them get better.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
This is hard. Cheesecake. And then chocolate and Gold Medal Ribbon. You could, like, count it as one if you get three scoops. Oh, and then chocolate chip! Four scoops.
