Romney, on his now-deceased Irish setter, Seamus. A June 27, 2007 Boston Globe article revealed that Romney once strapped Seamus to the roof of his car for a 12-hour drive. The anecdote, which echoed a memorable scene from the Chev Chase comedy National Lampoon's Vacation, caused an outcry among animal-rights advocates.
