"I didn't know we did it, and if I had anything to do with it, we'd have never done it."

Biden, during an interview with CBS' Katie Couric, criticizing an Obama-Biden campaign ad that called Republican rival John McCain computer illiterate. As the Wall Street Journal later observed, Biden's slip-up seemed to embody the classic definition of a gaffe — when a politician accidentally tells the truth. Biden later admitted that he had never even seen the ad.
