Running Together
TIME asks the spouses of the presidential candidates eight questions about their campaigning, significant others and plans for the White House
What would be your signature issue as First Lady/Man?
I haven't made a firm decision, but since Ron is a doctor, I would probably adopt a medical issue. Also, I think America is in danger of losing its rich tradition of handcrafted arts. I would love to raise awareness and ensure we pass down this heritage to our daughters and grand daughters.
Who is your First Lady role model?
We can find something to admire in all of our first ladies, but the one who was nicest to me was Nancy Reagan. She said she wanted both of our Ronnie's to win!
What don't we know about your spouse?
That he adores his grandchildren, rides his bike every day because he believes exercise is key for a sound mind and body, and loves chocolate chip cookies.
What do you like most about the campaign trail?
Meeting new people who are passionate about America and freedom.
What do you like least?
Living out of a suitcase without enough hours to sleep.
Would you expect to have a say in the President's policies?
No. I have enough to do running the house, the kids and the grandchildren.
What's the one TV show you and your spouse try not to miss?
Neither Ron nor I watch a lot of television, but we both try to catch the news.
What's the one campaign food that you could go your whole life never eating
again?
Ron really likes home cooking, so it's not the item, but how it's done.
