"Over the past few years, Seinfeld has become something of a forgotten
relic," Jerry Seinfeld deadpans on the bonus disc of this collection.
"Believe it or not, there are parts of the United States where the show can
only be seen four times a day." So why buy this collection? The nine seasons
speak for themselves, of course (over and over, in reruns). But there are
also vast trappings: a trivia-dense 226-page coffee-table book, the already
rich factoid, commentary and outtake tracks from the previous DVD releases,
and the punchy bonus-disc roundtable that reunites all four stars and
co-creator Larry David. But maybe the best reason is sheer Costanzan
indulgence, the chance to gorge yourself at will on Seinfeld's hermetically
hilarious world. It's the trifecta, and then some.
