Top 10 Magazine Covers
#2. The New Yorker
Oct. 8, 2007
This whole Top 10 List could be filled with New Yorker covers; so many of them are topical, smart and conversation-inducing. And illustrator Barry Blitt could have his own sublist. But to be fair to everyone else, The New Yorker operates in a unique place, where a magazine doesn't have to sell a cover subject or secondary stories, or use head-shot photos a place most art directors call heaven. This particular cover is a twofer: It nails Ahmadinejad for saying there are no gays in Iran and plays brilliantly off the then-recent men's-room scandal involving Idaho Senator Larry Craig. No words needed.
