Kady Malloy

Magic Man
They sing a lot of Heart on American Idol, but it's always the band's power-sap '80s catalog, so let's thank '70s week for reminding us that Heart once kicked ass. (Barracuda was too much to hope for, I guess.) Again, I give Malloy credit for song choice, but like some of the other girls tonight, she's picked a song that's too grown-up for her. These American Idolettes have been well trained to hit their high-notes and do their runs, but give them a song that uses their lower register and they just disappear. In her Q&A, Kady tells us she was "just having fun," which is generally a kiss of death.
