Boing Boing, the self-titled "Directory of Wonderful Things," was launched back in the blogging Stone Age (May 2000). It's quietly built itself into one of the most popular blogs in the world (#5 globally as rated by Technorati), an empire built largely on a foundation of pop culture ephemera and cool time-wasting diversions. But since the vast majority of blog traffic comes from people sitting in their cubicles looking for diversion, BoingBoing is the rare blog that delivers exactly what its customers want. The blog has only a handful of regular contributors, and sometimes it can read like a cult of personality—with some particularly annoying personalities. But for a quick peek inside the Geek Clubhouse, Boing Boing is hard to beat.
