Hair

A scene from the original Broadway production of Hair
The Delacorte Theater in Central Park New York
July 22 - Aug. 17
The groundbreaking rock musical which opened on Broadway in 1968 and has had only one short-lived revival since, more than 30 years ago is flaunting its love beads once again. After a concert version last summer revived interest in the show, the New York Shakespeare Festival is bringing it back for a full production in Central Park. The cast will include Jonathan Groff, a co-star of one of Hair's many rock-musical descendants, Spring Awakening. The lines will undoubtedly be mammoth (the tickets are free!), but if all goes well it will only be a prelude to a Broadway return for the rock musical that changed everything.
