Hot, Flat and Crowded: Why We Need a Green Revolution and How It Can Renew America

By Thomas Friedman
August 19
Three-time Pulitzer-winner Friedman has finally decided to confront the global environmental crisis brought about by the deforestation that was necessary to print the zillions of copies of his bestselling paean to globalization, The World is Flat. Friedman believes that a new strategy of "Geo-Greenism" will not only alleviate global warming, it will also resuscitate the American economy and enhance our national security. It may also eliminate ring-around-the-collar. Friedman is less of an innovative thinker than he is a champion explainer, but somebody has to do it, and Friedman has a knack for synthesizing diverse datapoints Katrina, 9/11, the Internet into a coherent (if occasionally a bit glib) worldview.
