Illustrator Haughton's involvement with fashion brand People Tree is one of those things that just happened. "I had been working an awful lot in advertising and wanted to get out of that," the London-based Irishman, 28, says. Through a friend of his girlfriend's he found out about People Tree—the company's goods are all produced according to Fair Trade standards—and thought it sounded worth teaming up with. Haughton volunteered to design prints for a foundering line of T shirts, and suddenly they were flying off the shelves. More clothes, accessories and a mural for fast-fashion retailer Topshop followed. Next up: Haughton is working on animation for a documentary about microfinance initiatives.
