Quilting
Taking their cue from Coco Chanel, or, in this case, the ubiquitous North Face jacket, designers are embracing outdoorsy details like quilting. Dolce & Gabbana stitches up a motorcycle jacket for a street-warrior look ($3,760), and famed French sportswear company Moncler incorporates quilting into its iconic down-filled parkas (Gamme Rouge collection, $4,750), making those who wear them the chicest skiers on the slopes of St. Moritz. Although quilting isn't newCrusaders were the first Westerners to discover the Turks' ingenious method of sewing cotton between two layers of fabricmodern technology has made it possible to apply it to many different surfaces.
