AGE: 76
OCCUPATION: President of Cuba
NUMBER OF TIME COVERS: 0
PREVIOUS APPEARANCES ON THE TIME 100: 1

PRO: Change has come to Cuba! Youth! Vigor! A brand new leader to replace the ailing Fidel! He's rumored to be instituting market reforms and relaxing the police state. And for the first time ever, he's letting ordinary Cubans have — wait for it — cell phones!

CON: This hip, wired maverick is Fidel's "younger" brother, who calls Fidel "irreplaceable" and pledges to carry on the revolución sin revisión. Similarly stalwart, the U.S. won't be lifting its half-century-old embargo on the Communist nation. In other words: the revolution won't be txted.
