#10. Syria's Iraqi Refugee Crisis
Nov. 19: The government of Iraq reports that refugees are returning at a rate of 1,000 a day from Syria, as a result of improved security conditions. But only two months earlier, they were arriving in Syria at a rate of 2,000 a day to join more than 1.5 million Iraqis already there. Some suggested that the return was based on the inability of the refugees to support themselves in Syria very few of the approximately 750,000 refugees have returned from Jordan, the preferred destination of wealthier Iraqis.
