He was a prodigy — named head of the House of Dior when he was just 21 — but he was no enfant terrible. In the course of his 45-year career in fashion, he altered the female silhouette with his trapeze dresses and sexy "Le Smoking" tuxedo suits. "Fashions fade — style is eternal," he said, and no one did style like Saint Laurent.
