Remember when Hillary Clinton was all, like, "This election's about experience"? Her ad, in which the White House phone ominously rings while cute children sleep soundly (unless someone other than Hillary gets elected, because then they're toast) was reminiscent of a 1984 Walter Mondale spot featuring a ringing, blinking red phone. Embarrassingly, one of the people in the ad Casey Knowles, who appears via stock footage taken when she was 8 years old came out as an Obama supporter. Parodies of the commercial were legion, with many begging the question: If it's an emergency, why is no one picking up the phone?
