Nine Kid Foods to Avoid
Using nutritional guidelines by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, TIME.com put popular kid-friendly food products to the test. Here's a sample of packaged foods that parents may be better off avoiding, plus our suggestions for what to buy instead
Lunchables have become a staple for kids' lunch bags, and parents are assured by this package that the meal inside is a great source of protein. A closer inspection shows these tortillas are also full of salt 790 mg worth.
Better choice: Oscar Mayer Lunchables Chicken Dunks. Can't resist the convenience of a Lunchable? Then substitute this version for the tacos. The all-white meat main dish is lower in sodium and fat. Still, it's not the best choice. We recommend that you make your own sandwich with low-fat lunchmeats, fresh veggies and whole wheat bread.
