The Hugh Grant of rock 'n' roll — sexy to Anglophiles but with a moderate work ethic and extremely limited dramatic range — continues to generate interest for one reason: melody. Even Oasis' bad albums have at least a few soaring sing-along tunes, and word is that on Dig Out Your Soul the group actually tried. Judging by the first single, The Shock of the Lightning, effort becomes them.
