East or west, highbrow or low wherever you and your taste may roam this fall, TIME's arts critics have you covered
Fall Arts Preview

East or west, highbrow or low wherever you and your taste may roam this fall, TIME's arts critics have you covered. Opera thrives on the West Coast, with premieres of The Fly in Los Angeles and The Bonesetter's Daughter in San Francisco. Ballet offers a break from politics in Washington, with Suzanne Farrell staging Balanchine programs at the Kennedy Center. In the Big Apple, Daniel Radcliffe stars in Equus on Broadway, while Wynton Marsalis makes a little Monk music at Lincoln Center. And in the Big Easy, a new biennial, "Prospect.1," kicks off in November with exhibitions planned all around the city.
If your destination of choice is a theater near you, there's plenty on offer, from Baz Luhrmann's epic Australia to Daniel Craig's reprise of Bond. Or curl up at home with a good book (Dennis Lehane, Marilynne Robinson) or your pick of spooky new TV shows (Fringe, True Blood). Whatever your appetite, whatever your time zone, we guarantee you a busy, buzz-filled autumn in the arts.
